Hearing screening project started in Taft city

The head of the Taft County Welfare Office announced the implementation of a hearing screening program for 3- to 5-year-old children in the city's kindergartens.
Majid Fassat said: "The ability to hear is the foundation of children's learning and many hearing problems are not recognizable by parents and require referral to hearing centers.
"Children with hearing impairments face many learning disabilities, so they should be evaluated at different intervals to begin intervention and treatment," he said.
He elaborated that hearing screening is currently carried out in two stages of birth and pre-school age: Screening of children aged 3 to 5 this year is being carried out in the city's kindergartens because of the prevalence of some infectious diseases of the ear and Injuries occur in pre-school age and lead to hearing loss, so better treatment results in timely diagnosis.
It is said that the program will take three hearing tests from the child and will refer them to the diagnostic center if the audiometer detects any part of the child's hearing.
