Given the importance of continuing specialized genetic counseling services to protect the health of physicians, staff of genetic counseling centers as well as visiting families and the fact that people with disabilities are at high risk for covid 19, the protocol for reopening genetic counseling centers is as follows. is presented.
Objective: To minimize the risk of disease transmission in genetic counseling centers and to perform all services of these centers safely
Executive Protocol:
1. Patients should be informed by phone in advance so that at least the number of patients in the waiting room is present on time.
2. At the time of telephone coordination for the date and time of the visit, patients should be screened for fever, cough, contact history of a person with covid 91, etc. Treatment of the disease is delayed.
3. Emphasize to clients to refer at the appointed time and based on the time taken.
4. Informing the clients about the prohibition of bringing a companion (unless necessary) and to prevent the entry of companions as much as possible.
5. The doctor should consult a maximum of 2 families per hour.
6. Upon arrival, ask again about the symptoms of fever, cough, history of contact with infected people in the past three weeks. If there are any doubts about the symptoms, the admission should be postponed to another time.
7. References must wear a surgical mask when attending the center.
8. All clients should wash their hands with soap and water for 20 seconds or disinfect them with hand sanitizer (70% alcohol solution) when entering.
9. At least one and a half meters distance between the clients in the waiting room and from the reception desk should be observed.
10. Waiting rooms and the doctor have proper ventilation.
11. A panel impregnated with disinfectant should be installed at the entrance of the center.
12. Disinfectants should be available for client use.
13. Sanitary service should be disinfected regularly.
14. Disinfection of the waiting room, counseling room, all levels, handles, etc. should be done at the end of each shift.
15. Manshi and other staff of the center should use surgical masks and gloves.
16. The genetic counselor should use appropriate personal equipment.
17. To examine each patient, a pair of gloves and disposable sheets should be used, and after the patient's visit, the hands should be disinfected while changing gloves.
18. It is forbidden to take cash from clients and perform financial transactions with the card.
19. If there is a drinking fountain in the center, be sure to use a disposable glass and the glasses should be discarded in a bucket after use.
20. All waste should be disposed of hygienically at the end of each shift.
21. Avoid placing magazines, newspapers, brochures, booklets, etc. in a separate waiting room.
