Ardakan was recognized as the venue for the urban adaptation project for the disabled

The Deputy Minister of Welfare Rehabilitation of Yazd Province said: Ardakan was selected by the National Secretariat of the National Central Organization based in the Central Organization to run the city of the pilot model city (experimental adaptation for the disabled) in the country.
Masoud Neshan added: ‌ Planning and decision-making to achieve this issue has been done with the governor's office, municipality and officials of other institutions, and this case has been determined and formed around the formation of the initial structure, follow-up and implementation of resolutions.
He stated that in the first step, the monitoring will be done for the places that need to be adapted, and specified: ‌ The Welfare Organization has allocated 100 million Rials for this purpose and the executive stages of the work have started.
Neshan said: "It is the human and Islamic duty of all officials and executive bodies to work to adapt the public space of the city to the movement of people in society, especially the disabled, such as the disabled, the elderly, pregnant women and children. This includes their citizenship rights.
Yazd Welfare Rehabilitation Deputy Minister reminded that Ardakan city as a place for the implementation of this project can be a model for other provinces: this is a new issue that is considered at the national level and can be helpful in many matters.
The official mentioned Yazd as one of the tourist hubs of Iran and added: "With this approach, foreign tourists will benefit from it and the needs of those elderly people who travel to the province from other parts of the country will be met."
Neshan added: "In addition to the prosperity of tourism, the ease of access for the disabled also helps to meet all the needs of the community."
According to the 1995 census, 8.4 percent of Ardakan's population is elderly, and 2,000 disabled people and 500 needy families are covered by the Ardakan Welfare Department and benefit from the services of the Welfare Department.
