By
implementing a genetic research project in families of children with
disabilities, the birth of disabled children is prevented in families
with two or more children with disabilities.
The
Welfare Directorate of Yazd province said this at the ceremony of the
launch of a genetic research project in the families of second-degree
villages said that by implementing this project, which is the
identification of the carrier gene in families with 2 or more people
with disabilities, we are going to be able to provide necessary services
to the needy families. .
Hefati
added that the issue of prevention of treatment is one of the
priorities of the Welfare Organization, because 50 percent of
disabilities play a role in genetic factors and 50 percent are affected
by environmental factors.
He
said the couples should participate in the scheme in order to prevent
possible disabilities, given the availability of genetic and genetic
testing facilities.
The
Directorate General for Welfare said that the second-generation
families that are under genetic labs, in addition to testing the gene in
the affected person, are also able to identify those carriers of
disability in the family, since the root causes of multiple-disability
are generally family-related marriages.
Jalil
Efati, referring to the implementation of a genetic counseling
screening plan in Yazd, said all the marriages that take place in the
province are under the coverage of the screening plan and so far more
than seven thousand couples have been receiving screening services for
genetic counseling.
He added: "Given the available facilities, genetic screening has been provided to all the conquerors of the province."
He
reminded: "Many of our colleagues in the welfare state are keen to see a
day when families with a disabled child are no longer concerned that
their next child will be disabled.
Director
General of Welfare in Yazd province said: "The good work done at the
Gene Research Center of Meybod is the result of the efforts of all city
officials who have provided the conditions for this specialized work in
this center."
Amnesty
said that 96 of 1,200 abortions were carried out in 480 cases in Yazd
province, he said: "This is due to the efforts of the activists in this
field, the participation and cooperation of families and couples. It is
expected One day, one can see that the number of disabilities and the incidence of disabilities is decreasing daily.
The
implementation of a genetic research project in families of
dual-proprioceptive families coincided with the commemoration of the
Welfare Week for the first time in the country at the Center for the
Study of Genetics in the south-east of the country in the city of
Meybod.
