The elderly cohort project began in Ardakan

In the presence of the faculty of the University of Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences, the cohort project began from middle aged to old age at the Ardakan Healthy Research Center.
"In today's world, the growth of aging populations is a major challenge for healthcare providers, as well as members of the families and the community in which the elderly lives," said Nsibe Zanjeri.
He added: "Elderly is a critical period of life, and studying the issues and needs of this stage is a social necessity, but in society, despite the growth of the elderly population and changes in the population pyramid, attention is not paid to the needs of the elderly as one of the vulnerable groups.
Faculty member of Tehran University of Social Welfare and Rehabilitation, Senior Research Center of Tehran University of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, said: According to general population and housing censuses, the population of elderly people has nearly quadrupled from 1335 to 1390. In the census of 1395, about 9 percent of the population is made up of elderly people.
"In the 1430s perspective, and given the growing growth of the elderly population, it is expected that one quarter of our population will be elderly, indicating that it is now necessary to plan.
Zanjeri added: "The plan aims at screening health in all aspects, including the physical, psychological and social aspects of middle-aged people, and the overall goal of the implementation of the cohort, identifying and explaining factors affecting the physical, psychological and social health of the elderly by examining the transition process from middle age to Old age
"In this plan, middle aged people will be observing for about 15 years to reach old age, and we will be able to see how small factors were caused by diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular, Alzheimer's, and cognitive impairments that are common in old age," he said. So that we can plan well for the improvement of the quality of life of the elderly people and, in general, for the elderly of the country.
A member of the faculty of the aging research center of Tehran University of Welfare and Rehabilitation Sciences said: "In the cohort project, the different dimensions of middle-aged and elderly health are considered as a longitudinal and prospective study in order to be able to recognize the natural course of aging and the factors affecting the disease Elderly, while producing knowledge based on internal documentation, provided methods for improving the quality of life of elderly people in Iran
